Entry title
ObjectiveTo create a filmogenic solution of zein-glycerol-ethanol to coat the bottom of a petri dish in preparation for the BSA/Gold NPs. DescriptionA clear solution of zein (10% w/v) in aqueous ethanol (90% v/v) along with glycerol (30% on zein weight basis) as plasticizer was prepared. This was done by first measuring out 1 gram of zein and 9mL of ethanol in 1mL of distilled water. 0.238mL (0.3 grams) of glycerol was measured and added to the Zein. The ethanol solution was then slowly added to the zein-glycerol mixture such that the total volume of zein, glycerol and ethanol solution did not exceed 10mL. Five grams of this zein-glycerol-ethanol was placed in a 9 cm diameter plastic Petri dish and gently swirled to coat the bottom of the dish. It was placed without a lid on a level surface in an oven at 34°C for 24 h. Data
