Introduction to the Course

Being the first day of the course, we ran a few simple experiments and made a couple of simple solutions:

  1. A 100 mL solution of 1.71 mM NaCl in H2O
  2. 10 mL of 13.5 µM methylene blue dye from an 87 ppm stock

The experiments we ran were:

  1. Water densities versus temperature
    • 10 1 mL samples of H2O were massed to determine the density at room temperature
  1. Water was rinsed in "clean" glassware, and a UV-VIS was run to determine if the glassware was clean
