Bradford Assay for BSA and Lysozyme

Today, we ran a Bradford Assay to determine actual protein concentration in solutions of BSA and lysozyme.

Procedure

Stock solutions of 0.9% w/v NaCl and 50 mM Tris/50 mM NaCl were prepared. 1 mg/mL solutions of BSA and lysozyme were prepared with the saline in a total volume of 5 mL. Bradford reagent was prepared in a 1 in 4 dilution. A range of dilutions was prepared, at 1, 2, 5, 10, 15, and 20 µg/mL protein, 200 µL Bradford reagent, and Tris/NaCl buffer to bring the volume to 1 mL total.

Results

Beer's Law plots were constructed with the data.
