- 1. 10 milligrams of solidified P-sorbitol and P-Mannitol in Phosphate buffer was measured six times and placed into 6 tubes
- 2. 1 mL of each solvent was placed in each tube under the fume hood (see solvents below
- 3. The tubes were each placed on a vortex for approximately 2 minutes to try to dissolve the sorbitol
- 4. 5 of the 6 tubes (water not included - the sorbitol dissolved with no issue) were placed in a sonicating water bath
- Data for P-Sorbitol in Phosphate buffer (pH 7):
- 10.0 mg in distilled water
- 10.1 mg in acetone
- 9.4 mg in methanol
- 10.0 mg in chloroform
- 10.8 mg in acetonitrile
- 12.2 mg in ethyl acetate
- Data for P-Mannitol in Tris Buffer (pH 9) (No solvents added today)
