So far I have been to Germany (Wiesbaden, Aachen, Mainz, Frankfurt), Russia (Moscow, St. Petersburg), Netherlands (Amsterdam), France (Paris), Mazatlan, Cancun, Grand Cayman Islands, Jamaica, Bahamas, Cabo san Lucas, Belize, and Puerto Vallarta. This summer I plan to travel for a month around Europe, hoping to tour Greece, Italy, Rome, Spain, Scotland, and other, yet undecided, countries.

Education

  • University of New Mexico, Albuquerque, NM
  • Bachelor of Science in Physics with a minor in Mathematics, expected May 2010

Research Projects

See my resume (linked above) for more in-depth descriptions of my research projects. Projects with reports that I can release have a link next to them.

1. Fall 2009-Present Sandia National Laboratories, Center for Integrated Nanotechnologies, with Dr. Dale Huber
Spectroscopic study of how the crystalline structure of iron and the binding of various organic surfactants influences the magnetic properties of iron nanoparticles.
2. Summer 2009 Columbia University, Nanoscale Science Engineering Center, with Prof. Tony Heinz
Raman spectroscopy of graphene trilayers with different stacking orders. click for report. see MATLAB section for the analysis program that I coded.
3. Summer 2008-Summer 2009 Sandia National Laboratories, Center for Integrated Nanotechnologies, with Dr. Dale Huber
Engineering of magnetite nanoparticles with PEG-diacid. An intermediate step in the synthesis of particles fit for use in the attempted treatment of Alzheimer's disease.
4. Fall 2007-Summer 2008 Sandia National Laboratories, Center for Integrated Nanotechnologies, with Dr. Dale Huber
Surface modification of metallic iron nanoparticles, with organic molecules of specific functionality, in order to achieve novel magnetic properties. awaiting approval from SNL to post my report
5. Summer 2007 Los Alamos National Laboratory, Center for Integrated Nanotechnologies, with Dr. Sergei Ivanov
Surface modification of CdSe and CdTe semiconductor quantum dots for the enhancement of light emitting properties. awaiting approval from LANL to post my report
6. Summer 2006 Los Alamos National Laboratory, Center for Nonlinear Studies, with Donald Thompson
I built computers, rectified hardware related issues, and set up computing clusters
7. Summer 2005 Los Alamos National Laboratory, Center for Nonlinear Studies, with Dr. Zoltan Toroczkai
I developed, from scratch, the webpage for the Center for Nonlinear Studies

Publications

  1. (in progress, not true title) The effect of crystalline structure and organic surfactants on the magnetic properties of iron nanoparticles.
  2. (in progress) Raman spectroscopy of graphene trilayers with different stacking orders

MATLAB Programs

a few matlab programs that I coded in the past, with animations or cool plots! If a program has multiple cells, run each cell individually, manually.

1. Program to distinguish between ABA and ABC stacking regions in graphene trilayers. I wrote this during the Columbia REU Program
2. Mandelbrot Fractal Animation
3. Double Pendulum Simulation and Animation
4. 3D Binary Star Simulation and Animation
5. Basic Wave Polarization Animation
6. Forced Membrane PDE with Animation and Chladni Figure
7. Propagation of the first n-eigenstates in a box with Animation
8. 3D Orbitals of the Hydrogen Atom! Requires this Laguerre Polynomial Generator. I didn't code the generator and it can be obtained here: here!
