1. Fall 2009-Present Sandia National Laboratories, Center for Integrated Nanotechnologies, with Dr. Dale Huber

Spectroscopic study of how the crystalline structure of iron and the binding of various organic surfactants influences the magnetic properties of iron nanoparticles.

2. Summer 2009 Columbia University, Nanoscale Science Engineering Center, with Prof. Tony Heinz

Raman spectroscopy of graphene trilayers with different stacking orders. click for report. see MATLAB section for the analysis program that I coded.

3. Summer 2008-Summer 2009 Sandia National Laboratories, Center for Integrated Nanotechnologies, with Dr. Dale Huber

Engineering of magnetite nanoparticles with PEG-diacid. An intermediate step in the synthesis of particles fit for use in the attempted treatment of Alzheimer's disease.

Surface modification of metallic iron nanoparticles, with organic molecules of specific functionality, in order to achieve novel magnetic properties. awaiting approval from SNL to post my report

Surface modification of CdSe and CdTe semiconductor quantum dots for the enhancement of light emitting properties. awaiting approval from LANL to post my report

Extracurriculars

Programming Mostly MATLAB. see above for work

Tutoring General Calculus, General Physics, Vibrations, Analytical Mechanics, Circuits

Athletics Running, swimming, racquetball, and hiking in Jemez Mountains, Sandia Mountains, and Pajarito Mountain. Skied or snowboarded for over 10 consecutive seasons.

Travel So far I have been to Germany (Wiesbaden, Aachen, Mainz, Frankfurt), Russia (Moscow, St. Petersburg), Netherlands (Amsterdam), France (Paris), Mazatlan, Cancun, Grand Cayman Islands, Jamaica, Bahamas, Cabo san Lucas, Belize, and Puerto Vallarta. This summer I plan to travel for a month around Europe, hoping to tour Greece, Italy, Rome, Spain, Scotland, and other, yet undecided, countries.

Languages Currently bilingual in Russian and English, and used to be fluent in German. I have also studied Spanish, though briefly. Would like to re-learn German and learn French in the near future.
