Objective

  1. Set up diluted solutions of functionalized gold nanoparticles with java ferns
  2. Create films of arabinogalactan

Protocol

The nanoparticles crashed out, again. So we did more research on how to prevent the nanoparticles from crashing out in the future.

Melvin made the arabinogalactin cross-linked film using the following method:
1%w of hydroxyethyl cellulose, 0.5%w of arabinogalactan, and 0.5%w of citric acid was dissolved in 25mL of water, poured in a plastic dish, and left to dry in a 40 °C oven overnight in order to evaporate the water. The next day, it was placed in the oven for 7 minutes at 165 °C to finish the cross-linking.
