Course description

This class will follow a “journal club” format. Each week, students will present a general overview of a subject related to behavioral neurogenetics, followed by another presentation in which a contemporary research paper is presented and critically analyzed by the class. Possible topics include, but are not limited to:

  • cognitive (dis)ability (IQ, Down syndrome, learning disabilities, etc.)
  • cognitive (dys)function (schizophrenia, mood/anxiety disorders, attention deficit disorder, etc.)
  • personality, aggression, drug abuse, etc.
  • neurodegenerative diseases (Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s, Huntington’s, etc.)
  • “twin studies”
  • gene therapy

Grading

Grades will solely be determined by the quality of the students’ presentations, critical analyses, and class participation.
