Howard Salis

Hello! I am a graduate student at the University of Minnesota in the Department of Chemical Engineering and Materials Science. My PhD advisor is Yiannis Kaznessis. (Est. Early 2007 graduation)

My research has (so far) focused on stochastic chemical kinetics and designing or studying synthetic gene networks. Half of my previous work involves generating accurate numerical solutions to Master equations or stochastic differential equations (or systems described by both) as quickly as possible. Importantly, the methods work for very large systems of non-linear bio/chemical reactions (10000 reactions, 50000 species, etc). The other half uses the methods to study how the molecular details of a bistable switch or oscillating gene network affect its network level performance.

My departmental homepage contains a list of publications and presentations.
