Objectives

  • Vacuum filter and dry 40 % beads
  • Calculate swelling for dried beads and start sieving them (10 % beads)
  • We will start sieving with 45 mesh, 60 mesh , 80, and 120 mesh. This corresponds to 354 um, 250 um, 177 um, 125 um.

Data

  • mass of the dry 10 % beads: 2.92 g
  • mass of wet beads: 28.2 g
  • swelling: 867 %
  • pH of acid we immersed the yellow beads in : 1.04

Notes

We will try wet sieving, as dry sieving was unsuccessful. The beads stuck together.
