- I deferred for 1 year before beginning at MIT to compete in the National Equestrian Finals: MIT Spectrum article / MIT Equestrian Team website.
- I spent 3 months backpacking, rock climbing, sea kayaking, and sailing on a NOLS (National Outdoor Leadership School) Semester on the Borders.
