5 Trials for Nanoparticle Formation

  • Using: 140:1 Au:BSA ratio; .25mM Au; 17μM BSA
  • One with protein and gold mixed with water (1mL each of 140:1 Au:BSA ratio and 8mL H2O)
  • One with 1.601g solid PVA - 89,000-98,000 - mixed directly with 10mL 140:1 Au:BSA + H2O
  • One dissolving 1.599g 89,000-98,000 PVA into 10mL H2O then adding 1mL each of 140:1 Au:BSA
    • in water bath at 10:25AM then added Au:BSA at 11:25AM
  • One with 1.600g solid PVA - 130,000 - mixed directly with 10mL 140:1 Au:BSA + H2O
  • One dissolving 1.598g 130,000 PVA into 10mL H2O then adding 1mL each of 140:1 Au:BSA
    • in water bath at 10:40AM then added Au:BSA at 11:40AM
  • All Trials put in the autoclave pressure cooker for 1 hour
  • The plastic tubes melted. We will recreate next week in glass tubes.

Recreating Successful Mini-Hydrogel Nanoparticles

  • centrifuge .15g 89,000 PVA in 1mL solution for an hour at 13,200 rpm at 10:45AM
  • .25mL Au and .25mL BSA added (140:1 ratio)
  • Put into the oven at 80°C at 12:00PM
