Installation

Igor and I followed the instructions in section 5 of the manual (see link above). We cleaned the fiber with three cycles of methanol drop and drag using lens tissue. There seemed to be a visible mark on the fiber, and definitely scratches on the metal surface around the fiber surface. We didn't cause these marks, and we became convinced that the fiber was not dirty, and if anything was scratched. The cleaning did not seem to change how the fiber looked. Thus, we're convinced that trying out the laser is the right thing to do. Igor then installed everything mechanically.

Laser powers up, seems great

Power reading on our thermopile sensor matches the reading on the LCD display very well. Went up to 1.6 watts.
