Summary

During my currently Ph.D. training, I’ve been researching soft coral calcification since my main research project is to evaluate how ocean acidification impacts this particular physiological process.

To know what the responses of these corals to acidified environments are, my area of expertise includes the development and standardization of techniques that implements principally epifluorescence microscopy and SPIM microscopy (Selective Plane Illumination Microscopy), for quantifying calcium carbonate incorporated by corals into structures called sclerites, which are believed to be particularly sensitive to ocean acidification effects.
