The SIMILAR WP10 database can be found at [http://www.similarwp10db.org www.similarwp10db.org].

It has been constructed for the benefit of the members of Work Package 10 of the SIMILAR Network ([http://www.similar.cc www.similar.cc]) in order to facilitate the sharing of data and information throughout the network and encourage scientific collaborations between its institutions and members.

* DB-Explorer: Managing Medical Data : the prime purpose of the WP10 Database is to handle the uploading, downloading and storage of the following objects:
** Raw Medical Data
** Processed Medical Data
** Data-Processing Routines & Computer Code
** Related Documentation

All form of data-management (that is downloading, uploading, editing and deleting) has been integrated into an intuitive framework modelled on Windows Explorer – called DB-Explorer.

* The Virtual Hard Disk: Helping Members to Cooperate

The WP10 Database has also been designed as a Hub for the WP10 Community, that is a place where all WP10 members can share ideas and documents of interest.

The sharing of documents is made possible by the creation of a Virtual Hard Disk where important documents associated with WP10 are made available for download. In the current version of the database the WP10 Virtual Hard Disk is made of three sections:
- The WP10 Archive section
The WP10 Archive section stores documents that have been generated by Work Package 10 since its inception. These include presentations given at various WP10 seminars, end of year reviews and other similar documents.
- The Help and Tutorials section
In the Help and Tutorials section users can download tutorials on some key aspects of the database – principles of design, role of the Id-cards…- as well as detailed PowerPoint presentations on how to use its main functionalities.
- The WP10 Formats section
Medical data do not always come in standard file formats such as Dicom, Jpg or Avi. In order to facilitate the transfer of data, the WP10 Formats section offers details on the most ‘exotic’ data formats used by WP10 members.
