Fluorescence Testing

Procedure

  1. Centrifuge 1.5 eppendorf tube with dye samples for 15 minutes
  2. Use micropipette to remove supernatant
  3. Add 1.3 mL of deionized water to sample
  4. Remove deionzed water from sample
  5. Repeat steps 3 and 4 three times
  6. Place sample over UV light (fluorescence should be seen within the hydrogels)
  7. Vortex sample for 2 minutes
  8. Apply magnetic field to sample
  9. Repeat steps 7 and 8 continuously for approximately 4 minutes
  10. Test the deionized water for fluorescence
