Methods

Jaewon's microscope used a 5-watt 532nm pulse laser to provide excitation. The image dimensions were 256x256 pixels, saved as unsigned 16-bit integers in separate channels. The 3-D images were reconstructed using ImageJ's Volume Viewer plugin.

Discussion

Beads

The beads appeared elongated and slightly deformed, likely an artifact of the field of excitation.

Mouse intestine

A square area in the upper right (x-y plane) was photobleached by accident.
