Yi is an undergraduate student currently in sabbastical leave as research associate in National Institute of Biological Sciences, Beijing, China. His main research field is neuroscience. Working with both fly and mice, his research topics include GPCR signal transduction, translational regulation, epigenetics, neural circuit for courtship behavior and romantic love, neurophysiological mechanism for biological rhythm, theoretical neuroscience, and evolution. He is also interested in generating funny novel tool kits for biology research in general.

Yi randomly joined PKU iGEM team and is very pround to be a member of it. He proposed the in vivo evolution system.
