Birds of Beare Park, Elizabeth Bay, New South Wales, Australia

The following is a list of the bird species I have observed in Beare Park, near my apartment in Elizabeth Bay, Australia. Dates follow the unusual sightings; many of these pass by every day, or nest nearby at night. Organized by family.

Australian Anhinga (Anhinga novaehollandiae)

Anatidae

Australian Wood Duck (Chenonetta jubata)

Pacific Black Duck (Anas superciliosa), 30 May 2012, a pair gleaning isopods from rockwork at the edge of the marina.

Ardeidae

White-faced Heron (Egretta novaehollandiae), as the binomial implies, it's actually a heron-like egret.

Artamidae

Australian Magpie (Cracticus tibicen), a very large Butcherbird.

Pied Currawong (Strepera graculina)

Channel-billed Cuckoo (Scythrops novaehollandiae). 24 March 2011, fed by Pied Currawong "mother."
