An animated gif showing a microtubule propelled by kinesin motor proteins. Kinesin motors run towards the positive end of the microtubule. Precise shape and dimensions have been modified from reality for the sake of clarity. Real microtubules are composed of individual tubulin dimers and have a length:diameter ratio between ~100-800.
