Syntenic dot-plot of Escherichia coli K12 versus Escherichia coli O157:H7 EDL933 generated using SynMap from the CoGe comparative genomics platform. Putatively homologous genes are plotted with gray dots, and syntenic regions identified by DagChainer are highlighted by red dots. This view allows a researcher to quickly identify possible insertions or deletions in either genome by incongruences in the red line. The region where the red line changes slopes from positive to negative is an inversion.
