The phenylalanine biosynthetic pathway in plants. Unlike in most microorganisms, plants produce phenylalanine predominantly via the arogenate pathway. A gray dotted line indicates posttranscriptional negative regulation of the shikimate pathway. ADT, arogenate dehydratase; PPA-AT, prephenate aminotransferase.
