Summary: The researchers found a DNA hydrogel that could produce proteins without the use of living cells. The gel contains genes in its scaffolding. The result was 300x efficiency compared with solution-based systems.

Idea: To try to make this novel method works in column format or in microfluidic channels for large-scale parallel and/or automated production.
