Data Page for Final Draft
This page is where I will be posting all of the data I took for the Poisson distribution lab for the final paper in physics 307. The lab is spread out over several different places, and here are the links to the different notebook entries, and drafts of the paper:
Here are all of the Google Spreadsheets containing mine and Kirstin's data. We took a lot, and there is a lot of data, so it could take a while to load up properly.
These tables summarize the data that we took the first week of lab, where we attempted to show that background radiation follows a Poisson. We then used this information to predict the behavior of the the distribution with a one second interval size, and measured it.
Second Background Check
Because we couldn't be certain that the background radiation did not change between the first week, and the extra lab data week, we took another set of data measuring the background radiation to ensure our cobalt and cesium measurements were accurate by taking subtracting the background levels.
These are the tables summarizing the data we collected from the radioactive cobalt-60 gamma-ray source:
These tables are the raw data we collected from the cesium-137 gamma-ray source:
Here is a sample of the code I used to analyze the data for the paper.
