Monoparental expression in worker reproduction genes

Basic protocol for production of reproducing workers.
Mark callows from colony A. Put back in nest for 2 days. Once 2 days old add one worker from colony A plus two callows from B plus some young cocoons. Leave for 7 days. Older worker can assumed to be egg laying. Verify with pictures taken on addition and at 7 days (check that the brood pile has been added to. Store all bees at -80oC

Everyday observation for competition point

5 minutes scanning looking for (1) Worker oviposition (2) oophagy (3) egg cell detruction (4) two or more opened egg cells over 2 or more successive days.
