The BMC is currently testing the Beckman SPRIworks library preparation system. This platform is a fully automated library preparation system for Illumina sequencing and supports all Illumina applications except for smallRNA-Seq. It performs all of the traditional Illumina protocol steps listed on the Illumina Library Preparation page, except for Enrichment, can prepare up to ten libraries for Illumina sequencing in 5 hours.
How it Works

The SPRI-works system consists of three main components: the SPRI-TE Nucleic Acid Extractor, a method card that controls liquid handling, and a cartridge containing all the reagents required to prepare a single library.
This platform utilizes DNA binding magnetic beads to purify fragmented DNA and perform size selection, replacing the need for column purification and gel-base size selection. There are two size range options available, 100-400bp or 300-600bp. There is also the choice to perform no size selection
