Descriptive Statistics

Experiment 1 The average amount of Inflammotin for 0mg dose of LPS is 3.834 pg/mL, with a standard deviation of 0.482. The average amount of Inflammotin for 5mg dose of LPS is 8.932 pg/mL, with a standard deviation of 1.59. The average amount of Inflammotin for 10mg dose of LPS is 61.622 pg/mL, with a standard deviation of 30.11. The average amount of Inflammotin for 15mg dose of LPS is 657.941 pg/mL, with a standard deviation of 212.9. All t-test values between separate groups were statistically significant (>.00833).

Experiment 2 The average for the 0mg dosage was 10.516 with a SD of 2.2255516 and a standard error of .9952969. The average for the 10mg dosage was 11.112 with a SD of 7.4028859 and a standard error 3.3106712. The endpoint number for both dosages was 5. The P-value for the rat test was .8674035 conlcuding the test was not significant. (Please report descriptive statistics for both experiments. Please calculate descriptive statistics in Excel.)

Results

Experiment 1

    • LDS was a typo, the correct drug name is "LPS" **

Experiment 2

(Please include well-labeled graphs of the results.)

Analysis

Experiment 1 After collecting our data we saw that for doses (0mg-5mg,0mg-10mg,0mg-15mg,5mg-10mg,5mg-15mg,10mg-15mg) all six groups were statistically significant because the P-value was less than .00833333. We had six different groups therefore we took .05 and divided it by the 6 different groups giving us the significance threshold. Based on our data all doses of LPS would improve production of inflammotin in human subjects. That means that 5mg, 10mg, and 15mg all work to increase production of inflammotin. Experiment 2

In experiment two, we received a p-value of approximately .86, because this number is greater than .05 we cannot conclude that LPS dosage has a true effect on level of inflammotin in rats.

(Using inferential statistics, please determine statistically significant differences in the data.)

Summary/Discussion

The results of experiment one show that the drug LPS is effective in all doses of our experiment. This shows that it can be used to treat inflammation in human subjects. The minimum dosage necessary to treat inflammation is 5mg of LPS. (Please discuss the results and statistical analysis from both experiments. State your conclusion.)

The results of experiment two show that the drug LPS was not effective in both doses of the experiment. This shows that it can not be used to treat inflammation in rat subjects. But a sample size of 5 is to small, so more collection of data could possibly show a relationship between LPS dosage and rats.
