The Heart Foundation explains that in 2011, "heart disease was the number 1 cause of death in the United States, claiming nearly 787,000 lives that year." Focusing just on heart attacks, "720,000 people in the US suffer from heart attacks every year." As of 2016 data from the American Heart Association, 116,000 of the 750,000 people in the US that had heart attacks died. It is evident that heart attacks are still a major issue in physical health for many people despite attempts to reduce the fatalities from these heart attacks. The purpose of this product is for the notification to emergency services for heart attacks before they occur so that the mortality rate for people that are prone to suffer heart attacks decreases. Competitors Advantages -Constant indication of patient's heartbeat -wrist alarm when heartbeat is irregular -easy to dial emergency services -a GPS receiver -has a touch screen -voice activated -small and portable -continuous monitoring Disadvantages -some need to be implanted -need to replace battery occasionally Customer Validation Patient The patient would be able to avoid a surgical procedure with our product, and pick a custom design that would suit there fashion interests. Payer The payer would not have to worry about surgical complications that could lead to more than one operation instead, they would just have to be worried about the sustainability of the bracelet that could easily be replaced or fixed. Physician The physician can keep a close eye on their patients without requiring multiple appointments. Also with this equipment they can decrease the number of their patients who have heart attacks, and improve their statistical rating. Provider The provider will be able to make multiple bracelets and vary the designs to fit the customers needs with minimal complications, as the structure of the equipment should be fairly easy to assemble. Purchaser The purchasers will like that this product has more of an appeal to the patients as it avoids surgical procedures and will be able to help the millions of people who suffer from heart problems. There is a wearable wrist watch that contains a heartbeat detector to see if there is a dangerous or falling condition and is able to generate a warning if it detects one. The watch detects its relative location through triangulation and can allow the patient to have direct contact with a remote person to audibly communicate with one another. There is also the option of using a 3D video for when the patient is in a dangerous or critical condition and in general, the purpose of this device is to provide in-depth analysis of a patient's cardiac condition. Mazar Filed: 02/19/2002 Summary: This device is designed to be chronically implanted within a biosystem and is able to sense the electrical and chemical parameters within a biosystem. However, this position allows the device to elute certain predetermined amounts of chemicals into the environment once it detects certain issues such as strokes or heart attacks, helping to alleviate the direct emergency that the patient may be experiencing, but this means that the device will run out of chemicals after a certain amount of time and must be replaced. Heart Disease Detection Patch US20060030782A1 Name: Adnan Shennib Filed: 08/05/2004 Summary: The purpose of this device is to provide a noninvasive method of detecting a heart disease through automatic analysis of the electrocardiogram (ECG). This invention has a battery and a memory chip for the patient's heart rate. It detect irregularities within a person's heartbeat. The patch is relatively flexible and thin and is typically placed on the person's chest. However, the drawback to this patch is that it only analyzes this ECG data for approximately 24-48 hours, so in certain ways, this is completely impractical for heart attack prevention. This is meant to be relatively inexpensive and readily accessible. Fundability Worksheet Scores Competitors: 2 There are quite a lot of competitors already designing this type of device. One of the common ones is SecuraFone app from Apple that is already being widely used. However, other competitors are in the process of improving this device. For instance, Fortify VR is a defibrillator implanted in this patient's chest, and it has alarm system that will warn people of possible heart attack hours before it happens. Yet it is still only used in patients with heart attack and they plan to improve it in order to offer the device also for people who are prone to the disease. Some of the improvements needed is to make it energy-efficient, to be low maintenance. Also, for the device to be able to sense irregularity in heart beat that would lead to heart attack long enough before it happens. Customer Validation: 2-3 I believe that our product really speaks to the costumers wants and needs. It is a more desirable product compared to our competitors as it eliminates incision or a surgical procedure to receive similar results. Also it is easily worn around the wrist and can be designed to fit the costumer's specific fashion. It also provides the costumer comfort at it actually notifies the nearest hospital incase a sudden instant of alert happens in an area that is not of their hometown. IP Position:1 There is a presence of patents out there trying to construct instruments that deal with both heart attacks and heart disease. None of these Patents include our design that adds a sense of style and increases the appeal of patients or costumers like our appliance. There are appliances with patents that avoid incision or surgical procedures, but the bracelet is easier to wear and includes a combination of features from the other devices with patents.
