The Daily Grind
- Looking at the corn seeds, about 20% had visible signs of fungal contamination. These were removed and used for GFP tagged endophyte innoculation. The rest were chosen for similarity in terms of germination rate, leaving about 60 tubes. These were then innoculated with sterile buffer (6 tubes) or colony resuspended in sodium phosphate buffer (100 ul of OD600=0.2). These will be grown until the leaders reach the lid of the tube, at which point plants will likely be phenotyped for height and biomass to reveal differences in growth resulting from transgenic endophyte innoculation.
