Solution prep

  • Make our neutral AA solutions
  • use glass test tube
  • .4 ml of 1.18mM solution of gold
  • 3.6ml of DI water
  • about 1 mg of amino acid
  • cover with foil top
  • Place in oven at 80°C for 4 hrs.
  • Ran ICP on gold solution prepared last Tuesday to check concentration
  • Also cleaned our lab station

Data

After running ICP, we found that the actual concentration of 2.5mM solution gold solution prepared last Wednesday is 1.18mM solution. So from now on all of our calculations using gold solution will use 1.18mM.

Average of concentrations was (73.15+73.76+73.39+69.24+69.98+69.52)/6 = 71.5ppm

Concentration of Actual Solution (71.5ppm converted to mM * 5 because of dilution) = 1.18mM

Error Analysis: (1.18mM - 2.5mM)/(2.5mM) = 52.8%
