Objective Description Synthesizing PVOH -0.5 g of polvinyl alcohol (MW:22000) was placed in to beaker 1. 3 ml of water was added to the beaker. -1 g of PVOH (MW:22000) was placed in to beaker 2. 6 ml of water was added to the beaker. -0.5 g of PVOH (MW:100000) was placed in to beaker 3. 5 ml of water was added to the beaker. -1g of PVOH (MW:100000) was placed. in to beaker 4. 7 ml of water was added to the beaker. -All four beakers were placed on to the hot plate for 15 minutes until the solutions become clear. -Each solution was then poured in to separate teflon plates and let it dry under the hood. Note: The PVOH in beaker 2 3 and 4 did not fully dissolved. Some stayed at the bottom of the beaker. Data Films with higher molecular mass(100,000) were thicker than the films with smaller molecular mass(22,000). It was very hard to fully dissolve the PVOH with higher molecular mass.
