Glass bottles, glass flasks
- wash in dishwasher on Glassware cycle
- autoclave (30 min sterilization, 30 min dry)
- place on shelves in tissue culture support room (76-286)
Centrifuge bottles, Tunair flasks, plastic beakers
- wash in dishwasher on Plastics cycle
- place centrifuge bottles and Tunair flasks on shelves in tissue culture support room (76-286)
- place plastic beakers in incubator / shaker room (76-284)
- NOTE:
- plastic bottles and flasks are to be autoclaved as needed by the user
- do not wash Tunair cap filters
Spatulas, stir bars
- wash in dishwasher on Glassware cycle
- place in containers on table in incubator / shaker room (76-284)
Pipet tips, microcentrifuge tubes, culture tubes
- autoclave (30 min sterilization, 30 min dry)
- place some on table in main lab (76-291)
- place rest on shelves in dishwasher / autoclave room (76-292)
- recycle empty tip holders in cardboard box
- please empty cardboard box once full (recycling bin located in 76-270)
Pasteur pipettes
- autoclave (30 min sterilization, 30 min dry)
- place on shelves in tissue culture room (76-285)
Biohazard Waste
- autoclave (90 min sterilization)
- allowed to cool, then place each bag into a black plastic bag, secure, and set in hallway
- NOTE:
- just before autoclaving, open up waste bags to allow in steam during cycle
- record tag numbers in biological waste log
Biohazard Sharps
- transport all full sharps bins to the accumulation room
- bring empty bins from the accumulation area to the incubator / shaker room
- NOTE:
- empty bins are stored in the incubator / shaker room (76-284)
- full bins are stored in the incubator / shaker room (76-284)
- the general accumulation area is room 76-268 (key on lab whiteboard)
Gel Buffers
- TAE, MES, MOPS, and transfer buffers are in gel / FPLC room (76-287)
- ensure all buffers are the above refill line throughout the week
By the end of the day on Friday...
- unwashed glassware < 1 load
- biohazard waste < 2 bags
