Objective

To try to control the aggregation process of AuNP/BSA.

In addition, to repeat the experiment performed on 11/30/11.

Description

  1. Make 4 solutions of AuNP:
    • Solutions 1 and 2 (Au/BSA mole ratio = 70)
      1. Combine 0.5 mL of 2.9 mM HAuCl4 and 1.20 mL of 0.0172 mM BSA in a test tube.
      2. Add 5 mL of water.
      3. Place in oven at 70°C.
    • Solutions 3 and 4 (Au/BSA mole ratio = 166)
      1. Combine 0.5 mL of 2.9 mM HAuCl4 and 0.51 mL of 0.0172 mM BSA in a test tube.
      2. Add 5 mL of water.
      3. Place in oven at 70°C.
  2. Leave solutions 1 and 3 in oven for 3.5 hr.
  3. Remove solutions 2 and 4 for 10 min every 30 min for 3.5 hr.
  4. Take UV vis data of solutions 1 and 2.
  5. Centrifuge 1 mL of solutions 3 and 4 for 10 min at 13200 rpm.
  6. Take UV vis data of the supernatant.

Data

Solution 1: Au/BSA = 70, left in the oven

Solution 2: Au/BSA = 70, taken out of the oven every 30 minutes

Solution 3: Au/BSA = 166, left in the oven

Solution 4: Au/BSA = 166, taken out of the oven every 30 minutes

Notes

Results are similar to those observed on 11/30/2011.
